RELATABLE
The sun shines onto the raised platform.
Deryn, Santiago, and Stick stand in the wilderness.
…
They’re covered in blood, dried, head to toe.
Santiago’s head seems to have experienced various forces of blunt-force trauma.
Stick looks exhausted. His work-provided pizza-deliverer bag is completely zero’d out of remaining foodstuffs, while his pockets appear to be fat enough for one to make rent
Deryn stands tall, seemingly full of pride for himself, scratched, beaten, and ears still ringing from the weapons fired.
…

I AM FREE I AM ELIBERATED

Orphaned at a young age by an unfortunate chainsaw accident, Stick grew up on the streets of New York in a constant struggle to survive. Selling newspapers, washing windows, finding lost pets… Stick took any and every job he could find to keep himself and his little sister alive. Things weren’t great, but the bills were getting paid.Until the day his sister stole the mayor’s watch right off of his wrist. She escaped, but the police tracked her down to their small apartment in Central Park. Stick was able to convince the cops that he was the thief, but the damage was done.
He had trouble getting a job after that. Most companies weren’t willing to hire a squirrel, let alone one with a criminal record. Finally, he managed to land a job in pizza delivery, taking the orders that nobody else will, but even that barely makes enough money to pay rent.
So here Stick is now, at the entrance to this place, on the last deliveries of the shift. If he completes this run, he keeps his job another day. And he will complete this run.
Or die trying.

Abilities:
Passive - Veteran: The time you’ve spent carrying and delivering heavy weights let you build up your strength. You’re more resistant and able to carry heavier objects with more ease than the average squirrel (0 weight)
Passive - Gear: You’ve been supplied for this mission, free of charge. You start with a backpack for pizza, a notepad, and an earpiece (0 weight)
Passive - Quick Thinking: Your time growing up on the streets has sharpened your reflexes. When an opponent attacks you by surprise, your dodge chance is not lowered. (33 weight, lowered as Agi and Int rise)
Passive - Rough Life: You’ve fallen on tough times, and money’s harder to come by. You start the game with 80 gold. (-5 weight)
Active - Sleight of Paw: Sometimes your day job isn’t enough to pay the bills, leading to more… unsanctioned sources of income. Choose an amount of gold to steal from another target player. If their Int + [gold amount] is higher than your (Agi + Int) * 0.7, the ability will fail and they will be informed that you attempted to steal from them. If those are the same, the ability will succeed, but they will still be notified. If your (Agi + Int) * 0.7 is higher, then your ability will succeed and they will not be notified. You may only use this ability once on any given player, though this limit resets after each level up. (35 weight)
Active - Fast Travel: Your experience working delivering pizzas has made you considerably faster than the average squirrel. At the cost of 5 mana, return to the starting room, bypassing the other rooms in between. This ability cannot be used if you still have pizzas; if you are in any form of danger; or if you are in certain host picked rooms. Players in the rooms in between will be informed that you ran through the room. (20 weight)
Epilogue (Stick)
Stick walked forwards, then frowned.
His landlord was there, arms folded, tail swishing back and forth impatiently. That was hardly unusual. Next to him, though, stood Aunt Holly herself, CEO and founder of Aunt Holly’s Fabulous Pizza Emporium.
“You’re late,” Stick’s landlord said flatly. “Again. Your antics make me wonder why I should even bother telling you when it’s due if you’re never going to pay in time.”
Stick held up the gold. “I got the money, though. Enough for this month.”
His landlord glared at him as he took the payment. “Next time I won’t be so forgiving.”
Stick nodded, resisting the urge to make an obscene gesture. “Right.”
His landlord walked off, gold faintly jingling. Aunt Holly looked at him distastefully, then turned her attention to Stick. “Hello, Mr. Astley.”
“Aunt Holly,” he said. She wasn’t really his aunt, of course, but she insisted that everyone refer to her as such. “What brings you here?”
“I have someone for you to meet,” the diminutive CEO said, waving a paw towards a short squirrel who had been standing in the shadows. No, Stick realized. Not just standing in the shadows. There was something off about him, a dark nimbus surrounding his form and obscuring his face.
“Stick Astley,” he said, adjusting the cuff links on his expensive suit. The suit glimmered and shifted from that murky blackness to a flamboyant, bright blue with gold trim. “I’m heard much about you.” Satisfied that introductions had been made, Aunt Holly walked away.
“Who are you?” Stick asked, instantly suspicious. “And what you hear?”
“Dear boy,” the well-dressed squirrel said. “No need to be so inimical. I have a proposition for you, one that I believe you will find amenable.” He gestured towards Aunt Holly’s retreating figure.
“Ms. Holly informs me that you’re an industrious worker, with an uncommon level of perseverance. I have need for people with that quality within my organization, and I believe I can aid in you in your financial situation.”
Stick paused. He had expected veiled threats, maybe a bit of condescension, not a job offer. Still, he frowned. It sounded too good to be true. “What’s the catch?”
“It’s not as hazardous as your current occupation, should that be a concern to you,” the well-dressed squirrel said quickly. “But we do tend to have some… misunderstandings with law enforcement. Nothing too serious, and the pay is very generous.”
Stick considered. They really did need the money. But if he went to jail again…
“I’ll think about it,” he finally said, tipping his cap. “Thanks for the offer.”
“Very well.” He reached into his pocket and withdrew an elegant business card, all clean lines and smooth lettering. Stick took it, frowning. “Should you accept, you may contact me at this address.” He turned to go.
Stick glanced over the card. It had a phone number and an email, but oddly enough, no name. “Wait!” he called. The other squirrel turned around. “What’s your name?”
The other squirrel smiled. “Others call me the Weaver, but you may call me Mr. Jackman. Yew Jackman.”
Overall, Stick was pretty fun to roleplay as (especially when the other players were visibly confused when he was delivering pizza). I thought I could’ve done some parts of it better; he didn’t really have a distinct style of speaking (especially compared to Spruce Wayne - there’s differences, but not as big as I would’ve liked), and I got lost on multiple occasions due to poor notetaking. Probably not going to RP with him again (poor guy deserves a break), but I’m pretty satisfied with how that turned out.
Thanks for the game! (especially for putting up with me wandering around at odd hours of the night)
