aelin including the minor detail of glassbottles, to add to the immersion, meant the ranged attackers had an infinite far-away weapon to use

always be careful with economies
since your game is smaller its easier to manage but
its better to have too little money in a game then too much
and money gained from murder is hard to balance

Also it’s very hard to balance an economy.

In games like World of Warcraft you usually see precious stuff being godawful expensive to balance it, but that’s not quite the answer either if you plan to make it fun.

and for infinitely respawing enemies, or large, large clusters
never have the game give a monetary reward for killing them

I used to play an MMORPG called Talisman Online

The economics of that game is very very terrible

They make money be very scarce, grindworthy and “unforgiving”. And you could get the easy way out by buying your way.

That game has crispy audio and crispy graphics and quite the visually pleasing plot progression

But my God

that really doesn’t work in these type of games
p2p is impossible
and grinding will always be worse then searching for other things, given the finite time of the players

But the reason why it still lives as it is because it makes the player heavily depend on other players.

Humans are social creatures, they love to interact with other social creatures and have positive interactions.

Humans like to do activities with other Humans.

humans are all pawns to a greater goal of winning
you need to trick them to do any work for you, and act “charismatically” constantly otherwise so they don’t even consider it could be you, regardless of anything

thats at least how i view people in fm
i don’t see much in other game contexts

It’s very terrible also because it has poor security (it’s easy with coding experience to hack the game and give yourself money and steal other people’s accounts and it happens too frequently), poor customer service (they do not have forums, discord servers, or any way to speak to you)

My dad lost so many accounts to hackers

Remember that people also like to have heart-to-heart moments. Remember Chili’s and Squirrel’s moment in Magnum Opus.

Chili could’ve killed Squirrel in the ending but he didn’t because [power of friendship].

when app achieved his wincon he stopped focusing on players, progression, and otherwise, only on escaping using the entrance route
he didn’t engage with others because there was no point

It also depends heavily if the game is competitive (promotes self-centered behavior) or co-op (depending on each other)

The latter is arguably the most socially satisfactory than the first where you often see on reality shows.

most people view co-op as “this is the mission, and these are the people to work with to achieve it” rather then bonds

Well if is a match of valorant where you scream at a person for not going in the right direction to then get a headshot, then most probably yeah.

But bonds can be achieved in certain conditions that depend on the certain type of activity.

Say you are in a massive roleplay game about a city burning with anarchy and you are a medic that does everything possible to heal as many people as possible.
Even though there’s the risk of being targetted for cancelling one’s death, it causes people to be attached to you and help you in return out of kindness.
