[RP] Trials of Madness - Completed - Apprentice, Magnus, Squirrel, and Windward emerge Victorious

Check Elements…

It’s the best example, how not to host miscs.

It went very awry at the late stage.

(Due to players having too much freedom honestly, also a player’s viewpoint and mine didn’t match up.)

At the end one of the players didn’t enjoy it I didn’t enjoy it and I never went back to the idea even though I know the game itself can be improved.

(Instead you get monster mistery, which failed multiple time in the past, but I always enjoyed hosting it.)

It’s on the deck mafia discord

For whatever reason he hid the first game from view tho

Or well, everything except main chat

does anyone else feel like
something was
missing from this
not in terms of the actual layout, but
i can elaborate if needed but if you can answer the simple question it would be far more beneficial

maybe number of players?

idk if there’s anything you could’ve done about that tho

it just kinda
felt
devoid

i reread magnum opus and fotd general
there was something different there in compared to this one

hmm

maybe stakes?

like
people were here voluntarily, while in the other rps everyone was kidnapped except the evil characters

tho then again
stick had a lot at stake so idk if that’s really true

maybe
that could
probably help
i didnt
see any

life

life?

character wise or in terms of player activity?

I don’t think that’s it.
I have an idea of what you’re talking about, Atlas, and a theory, but I’m not sure how to word it. Gimme a few minutes.

just overall it kinda felt devoid
i know i hosted it so im not going to think back on it like a player
but
it
just
felt a lot different

I don’t know about others, but I personally liked the roleplay and mechanics. That’s what pulls people in, but everyone wants to feel unique, right? They want their character to stand out from the rest of the cast. You would think custom win conditions help with this, but they more often than not serve as a distraction from the rest.
(I actually can’t remember if MO or FOTD had character-specific wincons, so if I’m wrong about that, sorry.)

MO had six Turncoats with their wincon, but they also had extra say, extra power and the illusion of being the one, which served to keep most of them invested. Not to mention the fact that I hadn’t run a game recently before then probably contributed to the hype.

I don’t think it’s actually your fault at all. You did brilliantly, keeping the game focused on active players. There were just fewer of them than expected.

fotd had
mo had 4 different wincons

I asked players which alignment they wanted to be. Most players were neutral, funnily enough. The standard “get out” condition.
Already discussed Turncoats.
Litten went “good”, iirc.
Wazza wanted to be evil, but Turncoats were already “randed”.

I didn’t really give character-specific wincons, right?

i guess im
sorry
mo and fotd had more
jubilative playerbases and game feeling overall
compared to this game and the other recently hosted ones, aswell
but its
easier to compare the three

in
sorta retrospect

various posts from fotd make me reading them now feel sick
sometime past post 5000
various times

that didnt happen this game so
that’s
something
