[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

“Do the mystery novel second, please.”

Paprika wants to hurry out of the bookstore quickly, but she does have a mission to do, and she did come here instead of Jan’s, something somewhat difficult to justify if she doesn’t at least ask.

“Did you hear about that VIP who dropped all that money at Jan’s across town? So bizarre. He should at least know where the better bookstore is.”

“Really?” She lowers her voice conspiratorially. “You know, just between you and me, I don’t know why anyone would prefer his shop. He doesn’t sell fiction, he doesn’t sell poetry, and he’s wasting space on that hogwash he calls ‘medicine’!”

He blinks at them from a distance in confusion before walking up.

Canary turns to the Wanderer. “…” It takes her a second to register ‘This man is the Wanderer.’
“Uhm. I have something to give you.” She waits for him to give a response before continuing.

“Alright?”

She tries to not brandish the fact of what she’s holding to the bookkeeper, so she turns around and covers the item with her body.

“Here. It’s from what you gave me earlier.”

Her expression as she gives it to you is odd. She clearly doesn’t want to have more money than she’s probably ever personally handled in her life leave her possession, but she also mentally registered it as Yours.

[Canary is trying to give you 100 gold crowns.]

“That’s from the things I gave you?”

Canary nods.

Paprika winces at the ‘medicine’ comment, but holds fast. The price she pays to buy mystery novels. (Paprika is Shaken for 1 hour.)

She keeps her voice extra low as she speaks. “There’s obviously been something up with Baron Dalin for a while… but I wonder what books have to do with it?”

“I gave them to you, so I would consider it yours.” With some insight, he seems genuinely uncomfortable by the idea of being handed this much money, as if he believes he is undeserving of it.

Unrelatedly, having read the book, Rika now attempts to appraise her new necklace.

…Canary visibly does not like this answer. She seemingly expected you to be humble and ask for 50/50, which she would then try to negotiate down to 75 (for you) 25 (for her)… but you went a bit too far for her to do that.
“…Could we split it?” She tries to regain any sense of composure. She’ll feel guilty if she gets out of this having even a coin more from it than you, because she regards the fact that you took the jewellry to mean It Is Now Yours.

Rika now fails to appraise her new necklace. (4)

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.

Cogs are turning.

“How about if we create a group fund with it where people can take from it as necessary?”

“But it’s yours…” The idea of a group fund actually seems to… sound a little worse than her just taking it? She doesn’t know a lot of these people, and she doesn’t trust most of them.

(One must imagine wanderer happy)
