Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.
It’s clearly a reasonably nice venue, and your meal is genuinely well-prepared. But the overall presentation of the venue is… very much appealing to Galtan aesthetics, without actually emulating a Galtan inn, even a pre-revolutionary one. The owner is Galtan, and presumably could be more Authentic™ if she so desired, so probably this is an intentional strategy of some sort?
(Oh also what kind of clothing is the owner wearing, is it remarkable in any way)
Makeshift alarm complete, Drakor made his way down to supper.
He idly examined the other patrons as he ate.
The former hospital is a sprawling one-story building divided into three main sections. Faded paint above the main entrances depicts a sun, and the building seems to have a large number of windows (with wooden shutters rather than glass), now boarded up. The entrances, too, have been boarded up, though the passage of time seems to have weakened the boards. Every entrance has been covered with red paint depicting an inverted fly; the fly is the symbol of Urgathoa, goddess of (among other things) disease, and the inverted fly is sometimes used to mark plague houses and the like, with the fact that the fly is inverted serving to distinguish the symbol from unironic devotional worship.
How do you intend to go about getting into the building?
(we may at some point have to pause this part of the thread until Geyde gets back, since he dipped for the night, but for now if you have a break-in plan you can execute on it)
(I would allow that to work as an alarm vs. things that disturb the curtains, yeah, though if the thing disturbing them were intelligent I might allow them a perception check)
((Fortunately, what Arius is about to do should be always available.))
Arius casts Detect Magic.
Apart from her jewelry, Amélie dresses like a well-to-do Brevic merchant, and she’s clearly keeping up with the current styles. (This is a notable divergence from her staff, who are wearing a uniform with the same stereotypically-Galtan-but-not-what-actual-Galtans-would-actually-wear aesthetic as the rest of the inn.)
Amélie publicly presents herself as the daughter of a merchant family who supported the Red Revolution (the Galtan revolution, initially against Infernal Chelish rule) at first but was forced to flee once it turned on itself. But listening to her speak, her accent has the sound of specifically an aristocratic Galtan accent. Given the decades that have passed since the revolution, it’s unlikely that this translates to any sort of meaningful power or influence — indeed, within Galt, it would be at best a liability — but it’s definitely a Notable Difference from how she publicly presents herself.
Well, I can’t interrogate her right now.
(Paprika has not prepared her “omega get arrested” ability. Everybody clap and cheer for her benevolence)
Paprika approaches the table where Amélie is dining. “Good evening. How do you do?”
(what do the other patrons look like?)
Besides Amélie, you also notice:
- A pair of middle-aged human men dressed like merchants, accompanied by a pair of half-orcs who seem to be employed as guards. Despite the difference in status, all four men seem to be engaged in a lively conversation about city planning, and the merchants seem to be treating the half-orcs basically as equals save for the fact that the two of them are making wildly more eye contact with each other than with the half-orcs.
- A well-to-do but very quiet human family, consisting of what seems to be an adult couple, a couple in their thirties, and four children, two of whom appear to be identical twins. The twins are the youngest, and seem to be around six years old. None of them are touching their wine, even the adults.
- Another, smaller human family, consisting of a single couple, probably in their forties, and two children who look to be around twelve and around fourteen respectively. Both the adults are wearing expensive-looking necklaces with several valuable gemstones, but the jewelry was clearly not set by someone who was very good at their craft.
- A dwarven man, sitting by himself, dressed in fashions reminiscent of northern Issia save for his pendant, which is a quite large crystalline pendant resembling a tree leaf. He is openly reviewing some sort of paperwork as he eats.
Assuming that you walk around the whole perimeter of the building after casting it, you’re able to identify two faint magic auras! Both seem to be located in the central wing of the building, and are moving very slowly within that wing. You may additionally make a K(Arcana) check to attempt to determine the associated school of magic.
“Quite well, and you? I hope you are finding the accommodations agreeable.”
“I am. I have found myself in an unusual traveling situation. The quality of your accommodations has been a very welcome bit of respite in these times.”
With this sentence, Paprika smiles warmly.
“Has business been treating you well recently?”
She smiles politely at you. “It has, yes. It’s been quite brisk this month.”

(didnt need it)
Drakor nodded to himself, then turned his attention to the ongoing conversation between Rika and Amelie.
(am I close enough to eavesdrop?)
