I’m never especially confident in my suspicions, that’s just how I play, I tend to be much more confident in my townreads. And then, from among people I don’t townread, I look for wolfy behavior. Maybe my approach is incorrect, it’s true I’m a bit rusty. But I don’t believe it to be fundamentally flawed, or something that should be difficult to see as genuine solving.
I tried repeatedly to engage in good faith with Frost and give him as much benefit of the doubt as possible, taking into consideration the language barrier, putting in effort to try to parse his thoughts out. I was trying, and I couldn’t get there. I genuinely have no idea how anyone could see his behavior as clearly town if they were actually reading the game and aren’t gifted with the knowledge of his role.
I recognize that I’m a bit more of an old-school player who cares about things like reasons for reads and players displaying understandable thought processes, and assessing the believability of those to find players as town.
It seems that the ways of solving the game that I’m familiar with are out of vogue. And although that saddens me somewhat, perhaps they are indeed outdated and ineffective! They certainly seem to be so far. I am a bit discouraged but I’ll continue to try my best!
I’m pretty sad also to have lost Zone because I think he was one of the only people here that I could actually get in the same wavelength as and talk to.
Starting from the top, my remaining townreads are pandora, carbonated, and Jaiden. I’d like to try to double check those to see if I can be confident in them.
If those are correct, that means there’s 2 mafia in Ishmael, Misty, and childe. That feels right to me, but I still want to do the sanity check.
I did see your counterargument. I think it’s a fair reasoning for why he would want to play like last game.
However, motive for playing like last game wasn’t the crux of my suspicion. What had me suspicious was that it felt like a fascimile of his stated framework. Just the bones, none of the meat. He was spending more time talking about what he was doing and (as it felt to me at the time) being performative about this than he did just naturally developing his thoughts on the game.
That’s why I was particularly focused on trying to get him to give reasoning for his reads and for where his reads shifted. I wanted to see them, he deflected away when I asked, and then later seemed to be pretending that I hadn’t asked at all. This stiltedness and lack of depth behind thoughts and putting more focus on showing off your process than any actual reasonings are behaviors that I believe come more often from mafia.
Maybe I’m the one out of line here, nobody else seems to care, but personally I think if you go from having players locked in your POE to then calling them cleared, that’s something that merits an explanation.
Unfortunately, I think aside from carbonated, Mistyx feels like the person here who is solving the game in a way that is closest to being something that I can comprehend (and, speaking personally, that I think has any chance of success).
This is unfortunate both because she wants me dead, and also because reasonableness is not a towntell (as much as I tend to mistake it for one) and if she’s mafia then we’re in trouble.
I think this post does not feel like it comes from someone who is going to proceed to kill Zone that night.
After rereading pandora I still feel pretty good about it being town. Nothing really blows me away as obvious town but she feels consistently genuine and there’s a few things that I think don’t make much sense as mafia.

In all fairness it was also a game that Frost was playing that felt forced and unnatural and floppy at least fmpov. I understand the vibe that she got from it at least and it feels like a natural reaction.
to me it just comes off as a lack of confidence in herself. As someone who never ever feels or stays confident in her reads (as evidenced by the Grande Idea game that concluded) I understand that she isn’t poking him directly. I feel like she is being aggro therefore actively trying to solve but also having a slight lack of confidence in that

This is one of the last messages from Zone, and based off of the surrounding area… well… functionally, Childe/Apennine townread. Jaiden/Ishmael townlean. Mistyx votable by virtue of most people seeming towny. Which honestly is kinda unhelpful if we want to compare that legacy to the reason why he died… well. I feel like this legacy is not the most helpful one given he townread basically everyone.

If Frost flipped mafia I would think into this post and wonder about the pairing more but since he flipped town I don’t think this is any help in determining that.

the thing about this read that makes it kind of hard to reason through is like
i don’t even think this is particularly far out of town range for someone like pen? not speaking from firsthand experience just with players ive seen play similarly over the years
it is very possible that town pen plays like this the problem is i think wolf pen almost always takes these angles
